RED CLOUD INDIAN SCHOOL

IN HONOR OF FR. PETER KLINK, S.J. AND BOB BRAVEHEART

SOUTH DAKOTA, UNITED STATES

Fr. Peter Klink, S.J. and Bob Braveheart have lived and served among the Lakota Sioux in Pine Ridge, South Dakota for more than 75 years combined.  Much of their time is devoted to caring for the young people and their families who attend Red Cloud Indian School, which is located in the shadow of Wounded Knee in the poorest county in the United States.  Founded by the Jesuits in 1888, Red Cloud has educated thousands of primary and high school students, many of whom have gone on to college, technical schools or service in the military.  They graduate from Red Cloud with not just an education, but with a personal roadmap for a better life. Both Bob Braveheart and Fr. Peter have served in a variety of roles at the school and on the reservation, constantly promoting the merger of Lakota and Catholic spirituality, reconciliation and healing.
