St. Luke Foundation

Port-au-Prince, Haiti

More than twenty-five years in Haiti have given Fr. Richard Frechette—a priest and physician—a unique view of the nation’s rich spirit. In 1987, he founded Nos Petits Freres et Soeurs orphanage in Haiti. The orphanage’s programs eventually grew into the St. Luke Foundation, which includes a medical mission and school system.

Fr. Rick’s long-term commitment to the people of Haiti has helped him build programs in response to needs. Today, the St. Luke medical mission provides healthcare to more than 120,000 patients annually, the St. Luke school system serves 8,000 students from elementary through professional school and the orphanage is home to more than 400 children.

While Haiti’s needs demand continuous attention, the St. Luke Foundation is always working toward a more promising future by investing in the development of people. When asked about his legacy, Fr. Rick responded by saying he hopes his partners in Haiti remember him as a person who enhanced their lives and capacity to lead.
